...ces are not pre-drilled. Do I need to drill pilot holes or should my Makita be able to drive the screws straight through?
3) The posts are about 1/2 longer than the three panels heights. Should the proud part of the post be at the top of the bed or the bottom?

Hi Ed. That is a strange one about the posts, I will check the stock here to see if we have an issue. This will be aesthetic only and won't effect the structure of the bed. The boards are not pre drilled but the kit is supplied with good quality self tapping screws which do not require a pilot hole, your Makita will easily be able to xxxx them in. The posts are 1/2 inch longer to provide some purchase if the bed is to be placed on a slope. You can either sink them below the bed or leave them proud at the top, personally I think they look very well on top. I hope this answers your queries. Andrew
