They are treated with a product called Tanalith E (not to be confused with the nastier Tanalith). It is certified by the Soil Association for using when growing food and it adds years to the life of the wood. We don't presently sell untreated boards however we will be doing so in the next few months. Probably untreated Oak to start with.
