You can of course use the brackets on the inside however the brackets are very well finished and they do look well on the outside. The reason we suggest putting them on the outside is the the boards are then pushing in to the brackets. If you put them on the inside the boards are pushing away from the brackets and in time could force the screws out. It might be an ideas to use longer screws in this case
