Hi there,You mention that they are designed for posts to be dug into the ground but can be modified for placement on a 'hard surface'. Why is a hard surface necessary? Can it not just sit on the ground?Best regardsJoe

Hi Joe. The hard surface is only a suggestion as it makes it easier to dig out the compost. You can sit them directly on to a flat area of lawn etc
