Hi Pamela
To be honest once it goes on a flat surface putting it on stones or brick will not matter to much but it would be advisable to put down either some old carpet or sand to make sure the liner doesn't get punctured. The wood is already treated so should be fine however it might be an idea to get some restol to make sure the tops don't get sun baked
Regards
