Surely it would be easier to put water in the pond before cutting to length and stapling the liner as it will settle better and wont stretch

Hi Graham
You are right. That is how i do it when building the ponds however you will need to make sure to put at least one staple in each side just to make sure the water doesn't fully pull any of the sides down with it
