Apart from adding cardboard, shredded paper etc would the casing of beech 'nuts' from my big old beech tree be any good for composting.( I confess I got very lackadaisical about the whole process during winter months and was just throwing in fruit and vegetable waste. Hi Elizabeth
If you get heat built up in the unit it will sort this out for quickly. The way to do this is to layer it over the next week or to. So a layer of kitchen waste. A layer of garden waste (grass preferably) and a layer of carbon waste. Cardboard, shredded up paper etc. Very quickly heat will build in the unit and all will be well in the world again
