Is the hot bin dependent on earth worms? I don't have a single one in my ordinary compost bin probably due to the presence of New Zealand flatworm!Many thanks.

No they don't need earth worms or compost worms as the heat in the compost bin wouldn't allow them to survive. The sealed unit won't allow them find the compost anyway. The heat in this unit can get up to 65 degrees in the centre at times. This is what makes it so effective.
