It would of course however at 14 inches i think it might be a bit high for them. If you email in to our customer support at support@quickcrop.com they will be able to give you a price for a 9 inch version of this which would work much better as a sandpit. But in short these units are very sturdy and well able to handle the weight of the sands and kids getting in and out the whole time
