Should the dripper pipes be placed with holes facing upwards or downwards or does it not matter?

It actually doesn't matter but a good question. Either way the water finds it way in to the soil. However i have always faced mine up as i found that sometimes soil can clog up the holes if faced down. So i found it easier to have them facing up
